Cooperations and memberships

Internationally connected

To the benefit of our clients, we are well-connected nationally and internationally, both with professional colleagues and in corporate networks. Our lawyers are also individually involved in various associations, specialist committees and also serve as volunteers. You will find this information on the respective profile pages.

Cooperations and memberships

The Federal Association of the German Export Trade e.V. (BDEx) was founded in 1980 and is the umbrella organization of German export traders, in which various regional associations are jointly organized. The association protects and promotes the foreign trade interests of its members. The BDEx focuses on foreign trade interests as well as on the daily foreign trade business. It provides support in practical matters of daily business, foreign trade promotion and informs on all relevant topics and markets. A focus lays on the practice-related improvement of the framework conditions for international trade with goods and services abroad.

In addition to the topics of traditional export trade, it also deals with international transit and import trade and pursues the protection and promotion of the trade interests of its members. The BDEx has a close association partnership with the German Federation of Wholesale, Foreign Trade and Services (BGA).

Among other things, through our membership in BDEx, we are optimally networked in foreign trade.

“Within the region and for the region”. True to this motto, we are equally committed to our regional clients. In this regard, we are supported by our membership in Wachstumsregion Ems-Achse e.V. The association is an alliance of companies, municipalities, educational institutions, chambers and associations throughout East Frisia (districts of Wittmund, Aurich, Leer and the city of Emden), in the districts of Emsland and Grafschaft Bentheim.

Due to its central European location, the Ems-Achse ties to existing east-west connections and is at the same time a link between the German North Sea coast and the Ruhr Area/North Rhine-Westphalia. The alliance pursues the goal of strengthening the region economically as well as maintaining jobs and additionally creating new jobs. In this way, a direct contribution is made to the demand for specialized employees.

With a focus on the automotive, energy, plastics, logistics, maritime composite industries, and metal and mechanical engineering sectors, the partners pool their knowledge, support each other in the network, and provide an ideal platform for experts.

Due to our membership in the Export Club Noord and through the geographic location of Leer (East Frisia), we are also optimally networked in Dutch foreign trade.

Exportclub Noord sees itself as a business network providing all companies involved in export with various opportunities for dynamic exchange and cooperation. For example, it organises regular export-related meetings that serve both the more experienced exporters and the young entrepreneurs to exchange their know-how and help with networking. The close relations with, for instance, the Chamber of Commerce (Kamer van Koophandel – KvK), the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland – RvO), the Metal Union North (Metaalunie Nord), the World Trade Center North Netherlands (WTC Noord-Nederland) and German network partners are especially supportive here.

Our law firm is particularly focused on the needs of those of our clients trading internationally. Inter alia this is reflected by our membership with the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).

The International Chamber of Commerce ICC, with its headquarter in Paris was founded in 1919 .It is the world’s largest business organization and the cross-sectoral representative of the global economy and dialogue partner for national governments and international institutions.

The ICC promotes international trade, for example, through globally recognized uniform standards (such as the Incoterms®) and guidelines (such as the Uniform customs and practice for documentary credits, UCP) which standardise and simplify international trade and thus save costs and time.

The Leuphana University of Lüneburg reflects the development of the Federal Republic of Germany – a modern university with practical reference at a location with a centuries-old, educational tradition.

Since April 2012, the Professional School of the Leuphana University of Lüneburg offers the accompanying Master’s degree course “Construction Law and Construction Management”. With the completion of this course, which we support as a cooperation partner, students receive the necessary qualification in order to take responsibility for management in the construction industry at the interface between law, economics and technology.

The main fields of “transport”, shipping” and “maritime commercial law” lead us regularly into the areas of renewable energies. Here we assist on the legal side in the development of innovative technology and concepts such as vacuum-insulated liquefied gas tanks or the supply of green hydrogen to the port of Emden. The long-time cooperation with MARIKO GmbH led to a network partnership of the law firm at the LNG.Agentur Niedersachen. Innovative projects are developed here through research and cooperation projects.

LNG.Agentur Niedersachen provides a platform for companies, research institutions and public agencies and connects them in joint networking activities, information formats and the development of innovation projects. The main focus of the agency is on developing and exploiting the economic opportunities that can arise from the use of LNG. Companies and the region are at the centre of attention here.

By participating in this project, we contribute to the promotion of LNG infrastructure development on the Lower Saxony North Sea coast and the development of climate-friendly supply and propulsion alternatives.

We consider international trade law to be one of our core focus areas, which is reflected, among other things, in our sponsoring membership in the Verein Hamburger Exporteure e. V. (Hamburg Exporters Association; VHE).

The VHE was founded in 1903 and is an association for export matters and the international trade interests of Hamburg foreign trade houses. The heart of the association’s work is the participation in political decision-making in foreign trade, customs law and export credit insurance (national as well as international). It also offers its members an excellent platform for contacts and cooperation. In the daily export business, the VHE provides advice and keeps its members informed about all relevant topics.

We support the VHE in legal questions surrounding trade.

The German Shipbuilding and Ocean Industries Association (Verband für Schiffbau und Meerestechnik e.V.; VSM), founded in 1884, represents the political and economic interests of the German maritime industry. The more than 500 member companies are represented here with their interests at federal and state level as well as at the relevant European and international institutions. In this way, the VSM forms a strong community for the consolidation and expansion of Germany as a maritime location. The association has set itself the task of bringing the maritime industry together as one sector, promoting exchange, bundling interests, defining common goals and achieving them together. In this way, it makes a valuable contribution to the international competitiveness of the German shipbuilding industry and secures locations and jobs.

As a member, we also support the Legal Affairs Committee, for example, in providing practical assistance to association members and representing their interests vis-à-vis legislators and public-sector clients. In addition, we contribute to internal and external events and support legislative measures and initiatives.
