Hartmuth SagerLawyer | Partner

Hartmuth Sager studied law in Hamburg, Lausanne, Bonn and Berlin. He gained professional experience abroad while working for a law firm in Auckland, New Zealand and for the German Foreign Office at the German Embassy in Washington D.C. He has been a partner in the firm since 1999. He is particularly interested in shipbuilding, the special features of charter and ship management contracts as well as all aspects of maritime insurance law and general average. In 2015, he was appointed as a judge of the Hamburg Bar Court and has held this honorary position alongside his professional activities ever since. Following the death of his mentor, Prof Dr Rolf Herber, Mr Sager founded and took the chair in the Rolf Herber Foundation in 2021, which is dedicated to promoting science and research in transport law, in particular maritime law.
