Gregor Harbs has extensive experience with complex commercial arbitration proceedings as a party representative and as an arbitrator under various arbitration rules. He has been Chairman of the Board of the German Maritime Arbitration Association (GMAA) since 2019. Based in Hamburg, Gregor also advises his national and international clients on all matters relating to the law of the maritime industry and inland shipping, including insurance matters. A particular focus of his practice is on the drafting and enforcement of contracts in connection with the operation of ships and the carriage of goods, on the support and handling in the event of shipping accidents and cargo damage as well as on charter party disputes. He is a member of the Maritime Casualty Team with Ahlers & Vogel. Gregor Harbs studied physics and law at the University of Hamburg and qualified to hold the office of a judge in 2003. In the same year, he was admitted to the bar. He also obtained a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree from the University of Cape Town, specialising in maritime law and international trade law.
