The Act on the Implementation of the Digitalisation Directive (DiRUG) came into force on 01.08.2022. It “serves to implement Directive (EU) 2019/1151 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 June 2019 amending Directive (EU) 2017/1132 as regards the use of digital tools and procedures in company law.” This law intends to make procedures more efficient in terms of cost and time.
Thus, the retrieval of all register contents from the commercial, cooperative, association and partnership registers as well as the electronically available documents is now offered free of charge via the “Gemeinsame Registerportal der Länder” (Common Register Portal of the Federal States) (https://www.handelsregister.de/rp_web/welcome.xhtml). Neither registration nor login is necessary to retrieve the respective information. This means that information such as articles of association and lists of shareholders can be retrieved quickly and free of charge without the need to engage a lawyer or similar in Germany.
