If the Incoterm CIF is agreed at the time of purchase, it frequently happens that – before the goods are delivered – the forwarder asks the importer to pay further amounts that are surprising to the CIF importer. These include items such as the “China Import Service Fee”.

As a result, the CIF importer usually pays grudgingly in the end. In his article
