after studying law in Hanover he received his doctorate for a thesis on the electronic “Bolero Bill of Lading under German and English Law”. Since being admitted to the bar in 2005 he has worked for our firm in the field of Maritime and Transport Law and advises on the preparation of contracts for closed end funds. In addition to looking after arbitral proceedings in this field, he is active as an arbitrator in the area of international trade law (CISG) within the scope of the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot and is an editor for the Journal for International Trade Law (Zeitschrift für Internationales Handelsrecht – IHR). He also edits the law journal "Transportrecht", focussed on transport law. Dr. Eckardt is a member of the German Association for Transport Law (DGTR), the Association Internationale des Jeunes Avocats (AIJA) and the German Maritime Arbitration Association (GMAA).
