History

In 2008 the partnership celebrated its 150th anniversary and is thus one of the oldest law firms in Germany. In the beginning the focus of activities was advising Bremen merchants - especially with regard to Commercial and Maritime Law. In the 19th century the firm was mainly retained by the public authorities and subsequently supplied the Bremen Government's attorney general for decades.

The partnership has also provided a large number of Bremen's senators and important mayors, as well as a former President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Karl Carstens.

During its long history it always adapted to the political and economic changes of the day and is now one of the largest legal partnerships in Bremen. In 1993 Ahlers & Vogel opened offices both in Hamburg and Rostock and with approximately 50 lawyers is now active in the core areas of Commercial Law.
