History

In 2008, Ahlers & Vogel celebrated its 150th anniversary, making it one of the oldest law firms in Germany. In the beginning, the focus of activities was advising Bremen merchants – especially with regard to Commercial and Maritime Law. In the 19th century, the firm was mainly retained by the public authorities and subsequently supplied the Bremen Government’s attorney general for decades thereafter.

The partnership has provided a large number of Bremen’s senators and important mayors, as well as a former President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Karl Carstens.

During its long history, the firm has always adapted to the political and economic changes of the day and is now one of the largest legal partnerships in Bremen. In 1993, Ahlers & Vogel opened offices both in Hamburg and Rostock. In 2011, the 4th office in Leer was opened. Now with a team of approximately 50 lawyers, Ahlers & Vogel is active in the core areas of Commercial Law.
